Christmas Lunch at Farquhar Mansion @ Lebuh Farquhar, Penang

We have been talking about a meal or high tea at Farquhar Mansion for a while and here we are at last after procrastinating for some time.

We made our reservation earlier and it costs RM30 per person which had been deducted when we foot the bill (Please remind the waiter or waitress in case they miss out the reservation fee in your bill). The service is good and the waiter, as well as waitress will tell us the ingredients of the dishes when they were served. The service is good and rather prompt and RM138 per person was actually worth it (before adding the miserable 6% of GST).

The dining area right after the entrance.
Love their chic yet sophisticated decoration.

The dining are in one of the room.

The menu for Christmas Lunch
They have 3 appetisers.
Besides, you have 3 selection of main course
to choose from, which include chicken,
salmon and beef (sirloin)

A bun and assorted buttered spread.
All of them are delicious with unique flavours.
They are herb butter, sun dried tomato butter and
unsalted butter.

First appetiser: Portobello Cappacio

This dish is simple and I actualy enjoy it.
The feta cheese and balsamic do enhance the flavour
of the mushroom. Plus, the fish roe
is fresh as you can taste the salty flavour and
it popped instantly in your mouth.

Second appetiser: Tuna Nicoise

I haven't tried tuna prepared in this way before and
it is an eye opener as it seems that I was having
poultry instead of tuna due to its texture.

My first time having a nicoise and this one is
rather unique as the main ingredient is tuna and
it is not covered with greens.

Third appetiser: Roma Tomato Soup

Refreshing and appetising.
I really enjoy the lovely sourish flavour of
tomatoes which prepare your palate for the
main course later.

The slice of whole grain bread is a lil tough and
I do not fancy the texture once it is soaked with soup.

Mango sorbet before the main course.

I thought it was peach sorbet.
Refreshing and I would love another serving of it.

Now, let's have a look at the main courses:

Baked Poultry: Chicken

I love the presentation of this dish and it is like
a piece of art, with the petals and arrangement
of sauteed vegetables on potato cream.

The chicken is juicy and it does not lose its
flavour after being baked.
It tastes good with the sauce on the side and
the serving is pretty generous actually.

Chilled Sirloin

My buddy had this medium well and she said that
it tastes delicious. The sirloin is tender and
it has a lovely flavour.

Salmon Trout

The salmon is fresh and the flavour remains
instead of being overly seasoned,
as well as the fine texture.

I have no idea bout the sauce though and it should be
great as my friends enjoyed their salmon.

Poached Apple for dessert.

The apple still has a slight crunchiness
and I was glad to have some berries to
go with as well.

Sophisticated looking dessert with Haagen-Danzs
ice-cream managed to end a lovely Christmas lunch
in style. Besides water, you will be served either
coffee or tea after your meal.

The facade of the mansion.
It is located opposite E and O hotel,
on your right and you need to go slower
once you passed 32 Mansion in order
not to miss the entrance.

Well, Farquhar Mansion is another great place to splurge once in a while if you are into fine dining. I was rather full after the course meal actually and I am satisfied with the quality of food, service and ambience. Now, I look forward to try their high tea and that would be my plan in 2017.
