Michelangelo's @ Gurney Plaza

This restaurant is no longer available at Gurney Plaza.

When ever I come across the name 'Michelangelo', I will think of Renaissance art, including the famous sculpture of David, as well as the painting of Leonardo Da Vinci for no reason. =.=

Back to the topic, Michelangelo is a newly opened fine dining Italian restaurant at Gurney Plaza (not art gallery), replacing BREEKS cafe. To be precise, it is located between Chilli's and Coffee Bean. The theme colour of the restaurant is black...with a good combination of light beige which made the interior design classy, besides adding some Renaissance painting in the interior.
My first impression of this place is that the food could be pricey and we might not get used to eating Italian cuisine (except the localised pizza and spaghetti) as most of us were used to the affordable delicious Penang Hawker delights. Well, they do have Set Lunch promotion...and in my opinion, it is considered affordable if you were to go there once in a blue moon.

I went there on 30th September to have a brunch with my bestie and luckily...we did not order that much as the food portion is big and we were forcing ourselves to finish up the food.

The Menu bearing the huge italic 'M'

The paintings on the wall. Notice the "Creation of Adam" at the far right?
Plus the addition of a leaf...we can't display the original replica in public places...lol

The chandelier with paintings on the ceiling.
I saw cherubs in the painting, Renaissance church's style I guess.
There are 3 of them in the restaurant.

 Ordered the Set Lunch Promotion:
You can choose your food based on the all time favourite
(which are available for every week's set lunch promotion)
or the weekly promotion (based on the food choices available every week according to the menu)
The price varies thought. The set lunch comes with a appetiser, main course and beverage.

We ordered ours for RM 35.90 (Caesar salad + Cod Pasta + Tea)

 Caesar salad
I like it. Not too creamy because of the dressing with sprinkle of cheese on top.
I don't fancy the meat though. Dunno what's that as well (Bacon, perhaps?)  =.=

Main dish: Cod Pasta Ala Creola
(Fettucine with Cod Fish in Aglio Olio Style)
It is delicious as long as you only take a small portion of it. (The serving is big for someone with a small appetite)
No fishy smell for the fish and I like the texture of the pasta.
However, the pasta can be oily although the oil made it smoother. =.=

Mutton/Lamb pizza @ RM34.90
(La Pizza Di Agnello Spezie)
With generous amount of cheese, but it is difficult to cut by using fork and knife.
Taste like mutton curry (spicy) and it taste better with a few dash of Tabasco sauce. XD
Another oily dish we've got here.

The food is great (the way they prepare them... I mean the unique taste..but they are still oily for me) and I will go back for more in the future. However, the service is slow when it comes to serving the food. We get pretty starving while waiting for them. Worth a try, if you were not on a tight budget, especially for those who enjoy fine dining ambiance.

Food: 7/10
Ambiance : 9/10 (beautiful , classy place)
