Joraku (Family Restaurant) @ Asakusa, Tokyo

The best thing about Japanese restaurant is you get to see most of the food replicas outside the shop.
They look real, with the colours and texture which can make your stomach rumbles at no time.
After wondering aimlessly around Asakusa, we stumbled upon this family restaurant and decided to have our dinner there.

It was almost 8:00 pm and we had to be fast as they were going to take their last order pretty soon.

Food replicas...tempting..tempting

The set meals for the special menu.

We ordered both. yosh~

The restaurant is well lit, with the wooden furniture which gives you a cozy homey ambiance.

We ordered 3 set meals. 2 which are summer’s specialty ( I can’t really remember though…hope I got it right. Gomen kudasai! ) and the Japanese prefer (or should I say love) cold noodles during the hot summer.
We did order the Asakusa set meal and udon sashimi rice set which were in the special seasonal menu.No idea if they still have it after summer or every year.

The non-smoking dining area.
Took this photo before we left. ^^

They have a smoking dining area as well.
It is full of paintings on the wall.

The menu

Asakusa Set Meal @ 1,320 Yen
 ( tax included : 1, 386 Yen)
(tempura, 2 sashimi, chawanmushi (steamed egg),  grilled fish, rice and miso soup)

This is something sumptuous
with all the tempting Japanese food.
Besides the tempura, the chawanmushi is delicious.
The texture is soft and tender.
No doubt, it is delicious.
You can’t get the exact chawanmushi here I guess. XP

The sashimi of tuna and squid is fresh.
In fact, the sashimi or sushi in Japan is a must try.
They are fresh and you would not experience the fishy sensation. ^^

Udon and sashimi rice set @ 980 Yen (tax included:  1,029)

This is decent and I still prefer cold soba as compared to udon.
For cold udon, they use different dipping sauce
which is dark beige in colour due to dashi  I guess.
This would be a heavenly meal for sashimi fans. ^^

The dipping sauce for cold udon.

Soba with shrimp tempura and rice @ 1,130 Yen
( tax included :  1,186 Yen)

The soba is garnished with nori and the shrimp is fresh.
I love it.
It tastes really good and you would not be over whelmed
neither by the taste nor the chilled noodles.
The tempura was equally good.
I couldn't resists it.

Dipping sauce  (soba tsuyu if not mistaken )

After googling for the site earlier, I got to know that they have English menu.
Well, you have to ask for it. It helps you to order your food, rather than being clueless and guessing what they serve based on the photos.

The water is free, so you do not need to order beverages if you want to save.
