Street Art @ George Town, Penang

Besides the metal caricature around George Town's heritage zone, we can also see a few interesting murals by Ernest Zacharevic, which is a part of a project of George Town Festival 2012, known as Mirrors George Town.

During my trip, I didn't go to all the places for the murals, except a few which we managed to find based on a map as well as some information found over the Internet. =)

"Little Boy with Pet Dinosaur" and "Boy on Bike"
on Ah Quee Street

These two murals are together and I like both of them.
The little boy with a dino shows the creativity of a child's mind
by having a dinosaur as a pet (why not a dog, giraffe or any animals? lolz)

The use of props as a part of the street art is creative and interesting.
I really like the paintings which beautified the old building.
They add a new touch to it.

"Reaching Up" on Cannon Street

This mural is near to Koo Kong Si and Acheen Street Mosque.
You can spot it easily once you see the Acheen Street Mosque.

"This Old Man" on Armenian Street

You can see this on the way to Canon Street for "Reaching Up" mural.
Kinda difficult to spot due to the glaring sun and the colours which blend well
with the wall.

Anyway, it is on the opposite road of Yap Kong Si.
Plus, a metal caricature beside the same wall. XD

"Little Girl in Blue" on Muntri Street

You won't be able to miss this as this is big (another bigger one would be
"The Awaiting Trishaw Peddler" on Penang Road, at a wall of a car park opposite
St. Francis Xavier church. Too bad we couldn't take the photo)

This looks a lil creepy due to her hair covering her eyes,
or prolly perching on two windows is not a good idea
since it reminds me of Sadako out of a sudden? O.o

"Little Children on a Bicycle" on Armenian Street

This mural is on the wall which is the same row
 with Cheah Kong Si.

You can see other creative structure like a cube and
 "changing rooms" opposite this mural.

Besides the art work by Ernest Zacharevic, there are some interesting ones which I've spotted on my trip:

The cube and "changing rooms" on Armenian Street.
Opposite the mural, " Little Children on Bicycle" to be exact.

Two classic phone booth with broken heart on Love Lane.

this is one of my fav. Simple yet creative.

Latest update:

"The Awaiting Trishaw Paddler"on Penang Road

This is the largest mural as compared to the others.
Well, it can be found easily at the car park opposite Cititel or
the easier landmark which is the building facing
the Red Garden Food Paradise Car Park.
This mural is a symbol to show the trishaw peddlers who
are always around Penang Road waiting for customers.
Another mural to show the living heritage. X3

Apart from old heritage buildings, mouth watering food and interesting history, now, street art has added another feather for George Town.

I really love this place, which is my hometown and I do hope that I will explore the inner city again in the near future.

Those who want to know the exact location, as well as the map and more information of the street art, do visit this site which is filled with awesome info. I got mine based on the maps shown in this site. XD
