Metisser Patisserie and Tea Room @ George Town, Penang

Metisser Patisserie and Tea Room is a French cafe which specialise in fine delicate patisseries (French pastries and cakes) and I would say that it is a posh cafe to indulge a relaxing afternoon tea.

It has a minimalist concept with white furniture and interesting artwork on the wall. The cafe manages to distinguish itself from the other conventional cafes where coffee and cakes are available. In my opinion, it is more like art appreciation since the patisseries are beautiful.

A selection of tea could be seen upon entering
the cafe. They are available for sales and I love
what I have tried.

The menu for Metisser Afternoon Tea.
I guess they might change it from time
to time as it is different than what I have come
across online the other day.

Each tea set costs RM 88 and for
third serving (addition of another person)
would be RM 44.

You can opt for a pot of Honey and Son's tea
or Malongo coffee.

I have no idea what is Malongo coffee and
perhaps I will try it during my next visit.

A selection of tea to choose from.
You will be spoilt for choice I believe.

The fine white tea set.
Looks chic at the minimalist concept cafe.

We had Birthday Tea and it is actually a decaf
fruit infused tea with a hint of sweet fruity
flavour. I got to know from the waiter that
the tea is infused with raspberry and blueberry.

Sugar cubes are available for your tea.

A selection of cakes to pamper your sweet tooth.

You can choose 2 types of cakes and 2 flavour of
macaroons of your choice for your tea set.

All of them look tempting and I would say that
they look impressive. Just like a piece of art on its own.

You get to choose Chocolate Raspberry too (the one on
the far left), but you have to pay additional RM 2 for it.

A piece of petit gateau cost between RM 17 - RM 22
and take away is available too.

You can check out their menu or FB page for details
of the patisseries.

Fruit jam and whipped cream for the scones.
The jam is sweet and savoury, by the way ^^

Bottom layer: Scones, mushroom pies,
tuna sandwich and cheese sandwich

Top layer: French Lavender macaroon, dark chocolate
macaroon, artisan chocolate truffles

The mushroom pies are fresh and savoury.
It does not have strong peppery taste and I love it.

My favourite would be the cheese finger sandwich
which is appetising with the crispy toast and cheesy
melted cheese. I would order 10 for myself and
gobble all down. ^^

The French butter scones are fresh and light. I would
say that has a crisp texture which is pretty good.
Same goes to the macaroons which are not sweet
and they are the best which I have had so far.

The truffles are the heavenly for chocolate
enthusiasts as the thick dark chocolate really end
your craving for creamy dark chocolate.

Tarte au Citron @ RM 17 / piece

The sour lemon butter cream is simply
appetising and refreshing and the thick jell like
texture compliment well with the crunchy cookie base
(known as pâte sucrée I supposed)

Le Matcha @ RM 18 per piece

It is an amazing experience when you are
savouring this delicate creation.

Basically, you get to experience different texture
once you take a bite, from the chocolate, the mouse,
till the matcha almond cake.

I love the hazelnut feuilletine by the sides
as it gives a crunchy crispy texture to the pastry.

I would just stare in awe to admire the beauty of the
patisserie instead of eating them.

The row of  pre-war shop houses which is known as
Ropewalk Piazza is where the cafe is located

Here's the map so that you can visualise the area.

It was a pleasant dining experience as the waitor and waitress were helpful as they would explain to you about their food and they would suggest which items you should try first for the pleasure of your palate.

I would love to go back for more gourmet patisseries, not to forget the lovely tea too.
